Tonight, as you may, cough, have read on DKos before - here and here and here, for example - the New York grassroots, netroots, and the official state party are doing something unprecedented together. And all of us would like you to be a part of it.
Details after the jump.
What we're doing is this: for the first time, the netroots, the grassroots, and the party itself, have come together in a common cause. That cause is the election of a good, solid Progressive, Craig Johnson, to our state Senate. If we win this race, we expect the resulting momentum to sweep away the republican majority in the upper House of our legislature next year. If we lose, not that we plan on losing, the republicans in New York will get a new lease on life. This we'd like to avoid, because we like them where they are, which is tumbling headlong into abject irrelevance.
Tonight, also for the first time ever, all of us together are hosting a blograiser, right here in Gotham. The state party has never done anything like this before - never even, probably, contemplated the very concept. Now, they're doing it, and working hand in glove with the grassroots/netroots to pull it off. One of the MCs is our very own Brian Keeler, known hereabouts as NYBri. He'll be on the stage with the governor, with a happy flock of roughly half the state Senate Democratic caucus clustered around.
Never. Happened. Before. Ever. Anywhere.
So we're asking you to be a part of it. If you'd like to contribute to the cause, just click on the graphic above, or just click right here. If you can make it tonight - the event, which we're calling Raise New York, is at Prey, 4 West 22nd Street, in Manhattan - we'd love to have you. Come hang with the coolest guy in politics, Eliot Spitzer himself. If you happen to not be in New York - we understand, that happens - no problem, because we're going to be liveblogging.
Right here on Daily Kos.
And, because we're trying to build our New York blog infrastructure, on The Daily Gotham and The Albany Project. It's all linked, networked, inter-related, and synergized. There will be people there tonight who have never been in the same room together. This is what building a movement is all about.
So please, keep your eyes open; we'll probably start at about 6 PM or so. Drop on by. Leave your comments. And just maybe - we're currently working on that - you'll be able to chat with The Man himself, our Eliot. Which has also, to point that out, not happened before.
Watch this space. It's going to be hot.
